Secretly, I’ve been training my whole life to be a Filmmaker.
Wild how life all the sudden opens up and you can see through the trees.
Last summer I took my first official film class at USC School of Cinematic Arts. It was the Directing and Producing class in partnership with Walt Disney Studios and it changed my life. It was a crash course in all things filmmaking with a whopping deep dive into how Disney Studios ticks, how the film industry clicks, and where to take these visions in your head if you can stand the rollercoaster ride of this show business universe.
One big thing I realized I’m pretty good at - WORLD BUILDING. I dig that whole process of figuring out where the story is in time and space, why are we here, why are these people important, where are these people starting from and where are they going and how is the world changed? Also, the other thing I’m strong at, WORKING WITH ACTORS. Asking the right questions and building behavior around rooted personality traits that are logic based and emotionally truthful. Coming from acting, I understand how to be sensitive to process, but push the performance so we can get the story from A—>B. And I love actors.
